Jeff Swan performed with ALL THREE of his bands at the 2012 Rock’n The Valley Music Festival at the Winnebago County Fairgrounds in Pecatonica, Illinois. The bands included: “SLAM BANG” who are signed to Dark Star Records along with the AC/DC Tribute Band “DIRTY DEEDS” and Jeff’s blues band the “MIDNITE BLUES BAND”. The Headliners for the Festival were Skid Row, Warrant, Trixter and The Last Vegas. Very few musicians have ever performed with this many different bands on the same day at one major outdoor event.
JEFF SWAN AND “SLAM BANG” HIT #1
ON THE SALES CHARTS:
After the successful release of Naked and Stoned a Music Video by Slam Bang, the band shot up the charts and “Everyday is a Party” became the #1 selling Album in the World on the Dark Star Records, Sony Music Entertainment Music Label for the month of August 2013. The music video for the single Naked and Stoned had it’s world premiere on July 8th 2013 and was featured at NME Magazine Online.
“Everyday is a Party” had also received some Great Reviews: ZERO DAY ROX Melodic Rock, AOR, Prog, Hard and Classic Rock. “Everyday Is A Party” is pure sweaty, bluesy rooted Hard Rock with a party drivin’ style focused on intense duel guitar attack. The sound is thick and in your face. Main lead singer Jeff Swan delivers vivacious vocals with an effective range over the gripping six-string work and smashing rhythm section. Songs such as “Hit It” and “When The Lights Go Down” have an infectious groove, while other numbers like “You & I” and “Somebody New” have a heavier punch to them. “Naked and Stoned” offers a catchy party vibe with a great hook, same with the title track “Everyday is a Party” plowed in the Y&T style. There’s no place for syruped ballads here, maybe the closest is “She’s Calling Out Your Name” which starts with clean guitars but later the full-toned Gibson duet takes over the scene, in a melodic way though. “Everyday Is A Party” is an enjoyable American Hard Rock album with honest songs played with enthusiasm and vitality. The guys in Slam Bang are obviously experienced musicians who surely have passed countless hours in the road and on many stages and venues, and that is something noticeable in their playing and overall delivering: no frills Rock ‘N Roll. Good Rockin’ stuff. ~ 0dayrockz
SLEAZE ROXX MAGAZINE: If the BulletBoys, Metallica, and the Beastie Boys gave birth to a band, Illinois natives Slam Bang would be their love child. I like it when bands put their best track first and Slam Bang have done just that on Everyday Is A Party. “Naked And Stoned” is everything this band does well — it is high on energy, heavy on guitars, and very tongue-and-cheek. “Everyday Is A Party” is about day drinking, drugs and women, but this is not the most literal track on the seven song album, that award goes to “Hit It” with the lyrics “I’m gonna hit it, I don’t even know her name, I’m gonna hit, I don’t even feel no shame.” Throughout the first six tracks, Slam Bang sticks to their formula of black-out drunken stories, simple riffs, and Mahoney-from-Police Academy type humor. One surprise is the ballad “She’s Calling Out Your Name” which is suspiciously the last track. After six songs focused on sex, drugs, and more sex I’m still not sure what to do with this closing song. For fans of hard rock party anthems, Everyday Is A Party is a record to download (seeing as it is a digital only release). Play it at the beach while drinking a can of Old Style, inside your bright orange Corvette, or when “hanging” in the basement with your bros. Seeing as this is the final release with frontman Jeff Swan, who moved to California, it will be interesting to see how Slam Bang move forward with a revamped line-up. ~Reviewed by David S.
